Moawad: “What came out in some media about me lacks accuracy”

In a personal tweet, the President of the ‘Independence Movement’, Michel Moawad, said: “All what I heard and read in the media about me in the last few days lacks accuracy.”

Regarding the recent ministerial vetoes, the daily newspaper ‘Al Liwaa’ had mentioned in its issue of November 11th, 2016, about a veto put against giving a ministerial portfolio related to services to MP Suleiman Frangieh. It also stated that if there was an insistence to name Frangieh or a representative of him as a minister in the coming Cabinet, the ‘Lebanese Forces’ would suggest and support the President of the ‘Independence Movement’ Michel Moawad as a minister in the Cabinet to hold a portfolio related to services. Moawad would be considered as part of the ‘14th March’ quota, for which the ‘Lebanese Forces’ are the main Christian component. This way, ‘Lebanese Forces’ would gain a considerable representation with five ministers, as follows: Ibrahim Najjar (Maronite, Minister of Justice), Melhem Riachi (Catholic, Minister of Information), Minister Michel Pharaon (Catholic, to be reinstated as Minister of Tourism), a minister from the Orthodox confession, believed to be Ghassan Hasbani who would hold one of the ministries of Public Affairs or Social Affairs or Health, in addition to Moawad.
