The President of the Independence Movement Michel Moawad and his wife Marielle received the Belgian Minister of State André Flahaut at their residence in Ehden. Minister Flahaut is a former President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives and a former Minister of Defence.
The minister was accompanied by the Ambassador of Belgium in Lebanon Alex Lenaerts, the first secretary at the Embassy, and Minister Flahaut’s assistant. Was also present, the president of the Libanospora association, businessman Raymond Maccari.
The visit included talks on the general political situation in Lebanon and the region, and discussions on the Development partnerships that Belgium has with Lebanese governmental institutions and NGOs.
Flahaut explained that this was his second visit to Lebanon, being hosted by Mr Raymond Maccari, after an earlier visit in 2006. He said that he learned closely about the Rene Moawad Foundation’s (RMF) activities, and got thoroughly informed of the valuable projects that it implements in many sectors. He suggested building collaboration between his country and RMF.
Falhaut and the delegation accompanying him had earlier met former MP Jawad Boulos at his residence.
