President of the Independence Movement, MP Michel Moawad, nominated Prime Minister Saad Hariri to head the next government, adding that “the Future Movement confirmed in the elections that it constitutes the heavy majority on the Sunni street.”

And Moawad said from Baabda, “We, as the Independence Movement, believe that there are common principles and a common struggle that binds us together with Prime minister Saad Hariri and with the Future Movement, and I hope that this nomination will lead to the formation of a fast government that can be up to the challenges ahead, that is to protect Lebanon from the present conflict, everyone’s return to the state and under the state umbrella within the framework of a defensive strategy discussed by President Michel Aoun, with its core concern being a serious reform process not only through slogans, but through action, otherwise the structure will collapse on everyone.”

Moawad clarified: “We are with the strong Lebanon bloc, but I today, as the Independence Movement, represent the people that elected me.”
