MP Michel Moawad welcomed General Director of the Ministry of Agriculture Eng. Louis Lahoud and discussed various agricultural issues of interest to farmers in the north in addition to their needs and problems.
The two then toured the premises of the René Moawad Foundation in Mejdlaya where Lahoud was briefed on the projects supervised by the Foundation, from the fruit-preservation refrigerators, to the modern plant that cuts fresh vegetables, and then the dairy and cheese factory.
Lahoud praised the work of the René Moawad Foundation and its efforts in the agricultural sector in the region, in addition to the work it achieves to farmers’ benefits. He also expressed his admiration for the developmental vision of the institution.
A detailed presentation of the Foundation’s work and projects it carried out in recent years was given for the occasion.
The two also agreed to develop a joint strategy to coordinate the next phase of work in various agricultural sectors with regards to plant, animal, and agricultural produce. And for this purpose, a joint technical team was formed between the René Moawad Foundation and the Ministry of Agriculture to cope with the development of agricultural work and to formulate a common strategy for agricultural and rural development in different regions of Lebanon.
