President of the Independence Movement MP Michel Moawad supports and welcomes the reconciliation step that took place following a stage of stability between the Lebanese Forces party and the Marada party, which occurred after the number of national reconciliations that have taken place in recent years, hence turning the last page in the conflicts chapter from the Lebanese war.
Moawad told MTV: “This support and welcome come from a firm conviction that we cannot build a nation if our relationship is built on grudges from the war, but rather it must be based on competition, vision and a plan.” And we cannot build a nation without a foundation and a comprehensive national reconciliation called upon by martyred President Rene Moawad, which was perhaps one of the causes of his death.
Moawad stressed “concluding the reconciliation file must include the issue of the missing prisoners in the Lebanese war and the assassinations that were not brought to justice in order to end the civil war chapter once and for all.”
He added: Just as I followed up on and supported past reconciliation, it is certain that I support turning the page on the Ehden massacre which affected my region and my people to whom I send a heartfelt “congratulations”, especially to the family of the martyrs which we cannot but think of today.
