Head of the “Independence Movement” MP Michel Moawad stressed “the need to be aware that our economic and financial situation is on the verge of abyss,” stressing that “the Lebanese government is facing great responsibilities imposed on it to take exceptional measures commensurate with the exceptional situation in which the country is going through.” He stressed the adherence to coexistence in the north, declaring not to allow “neither the deal makers nor the owners of interests to strike the unity of our society and we will not allow the government blundering to get people to confront each other.” He called on Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri to take a serious decision on any landfill he deems appropriate without retracting it after 24 hours.
Moawad’s remarks came after his visit to Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi in Diman, accompanied by the public relations official in the “Independence Movement” lawyer Edward Tayoun in the presence of the clergyman of the Maronite Church and Curial Bishop of the Patriarchate of Antioch on Jubba Bsharri and Zgharta – Ehden, Sarba-Jounieh Bishop Joseph Naffa, where they discussed the latest developments and national matters, Rahi then greeted them at the lunch table.
