The Rene Moawad Foundation launched in cooperation with Saint George Hospital a free healthcare campaign at Milad al-Ghazal center in Zghorta with the participation of former Social Affairs Minister Nayla Moawad and representatives of a number of healthcare and social services organizations.
As part of the campaign entitled “take your health seriously,” more than 65 medical professionals from Saint George hospital including doctors and nurses provided free exams and consultations services to residents of north Lebanon.

The medical exams, which took place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., covered heart diseases, blood pressure, nutrition, dermatological diseases, diabetes, prostate, early breast cancer detection, osteoporosis, vision and hearing.
“The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness concerning the importance of preventive health care in addition to providing free medical care to citizens,” Moawad told participants in the campaign.
The medical exams will be followed up by consultations services by the Rene Moawad Foundation, the former minister said, adding that it was the responsibility of Lebanese officials to ensure that citizens receive proper medical care.

Lina Moukheiber, head of the development program at Saint George Hospital, said 13 medical teams comprising 64 professionals including doctors, nurses and volunteers participated in the campaign.

The campaign saw large participation with some citizens having to wait for hours to register for medical tests.
“I didn’t expect such large participation. I had to wait for two hours to register my name,” said Youmna Layyoun, who came to check for osteoporosis.
