The Independence Movement condemned Sunday the attack by a group of pro-regime Syrian lawyers against a delegation of Lebanese lawyers who took part in the Arab Lawyers Union conference in Cairo.

Independence Movement official Antoine Jabbour said the attack highlighted the oppressive nature of the Syrian regime.

“We urge the Egyptian and Lebanese authorities to take the necessary legal measures against those responsible for the assault, which is tantamount to an assault against all Lebanese and free people around the word,” Jabbour said.
