A youth delegation of the Independence Movement headed by Antonio Moawad laid flowers over the grave of late Minister Tony Franjieh, his wife Vera and their daughter Jihane at Mar Antonios church in Ehden. Moawad was greeted by the head of the Marada Movement Student and Youth club Shady Dahdah who stressed the importance of dialogue despite political differences.
Dahdah said both the Independence and Marada Movements have paid for the sovereignty of Lebanon in blood, recalling the assassination of late President Rene Moawad and Minister Tony Franjieh.
Moawad said the “honor your martyrs” initiative was part of the Independence Movement’s strategy to promote dialogue among all parties regardless of political differences.
Along with delegations of both parties, Fathers Paul Murcos Douaihy and Jean Mora participated in prayers at the graveside.
