Moawad says development agenda transcends politics
Tony Franjieh urges electorate to vote for consensus candidates
Independence Movement leader Michel Moawad discussed Friday with Tony Franjieh, the son of Marada Movement Chief MP Suleiman Franjieh, the latest preparations for municipal elections across Zgharta district.
“We have been working for a while to put development before politics when it comes to the municipal elections,” Franjieh said after meeting with Moawad at the latter’s residence in Zgharta.
Franjieh also thanked Moawad for putting the final touches on a agreement to rally the electorate behind candidates who are seeking to promote local development in villages and towns across Zgharta.
Despite their political difference, the Independence Movement and the Marada Movement have joined efforts to put development before politics, Moawad said.
“We are not fighting a political battle but are supporting the election of local authorities that seek to advance development at a time when the central government plunges into paralysis,” Moawad said.
Both Moawad and Franjieh urged the electorate to vote in large numbers for consensus candidates on May 29.
