The President of the Independence Movement Michel Moawad emphasized that “what is needed today is forgetting about the past, working in coordination and cooperation for the good of the country, bringing back efficiency to the Institutions’ work, and re-establishing stability and a healthy economy.”
Moawad’s words came after a meeting with Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil at his office in the ministry. Were also present at the meeting, MP Amal Abu Zeid (Tayyar block) and the vice-president of the Maronite League, lawyer Tawfiq Moawad.
In a statement which followed the meeting, Moawad declared: “The meeting with Bassil came in the framework of coordination and cooperation which followed the election of President Aoun, and the opening of a new chapter between the various Lebanese factions, and between all the Christian leaders. The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss various matters, exchange ideas and develop mechanisms for future coordination.”
