The president of the Independence Movement, Michel Moawad, visited the president of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, to discuss and finalize the details related to the formation of the elections’ lists, and the elections’ campaign in the 3rd constituency of North Lebanon.
Speaking after the meeting, Moawad said: “The purpose of this visit is to make a joined announcement about the alliance between the Independence Movement and the Free Patriotic Movement for the coming elections. We have agreed with Minister Bassil on all the details. We see this alliance as a local and national nucleus for other forces to join in, in the coming days…”
Welcoming Moawad, Bassil spoke: “We are pleased to receive our guest and ally Michel Rene Moawad, and make a joint announcement of our electoral agreement for the coming period. Through this alliance, we hope to bring back a much needed balance in Zgharta and in the entire constituency.”
He added: “The basis of our alliance is a political agreement for the period to follow the parliamentary elections. This, for us, is the most important element. We wish to establish this balance in Zgharta and move forward to expand it to the whole North region and to the whole country. This is part of our plan to rebuild the State.”
Bassil expressed his hope that this political, electoral, democratic and civilised partnership, will offer a beautiful image of the Free Patriotic Movement and the Independence Movement.
