The president of the Independence Movement Michel Moawad posted on his ‘Twitter’ account:

“The Court sentence asking for the imprisonment of journalists Alain Sarkis and Tarek Tarshishi is a blatant violation to the Freedom of the Media and an infringement to Law and to the essence of the Lebanese Constitution.”

He added: “I express my full solidarity with the Freedom of the Press. The new Parliament must put an end to these violations by enacting legislations that protect the Freedom of Press and the Freedom of Media in a stronger way.”
