With the upcoming parliamentary elections, with their first phase beginning with the Lebanese expatriates on Friday and Saturday, the 27th and 29^th of April, the President of the Independence Movement sent a message to Lebanese abroad.

In a video posted over media networks, Moawad confirmed that his bet on “family and friends overseas is constant and isn’t new or seasonal and has nothing to do with any upcoming event,” working hard to ensure that the Lebanese expat can be a partner in the national decision and is granted the right to vote. And Moawad pointed out that his relationship with expatriates is one of trust and of the dream of a nation that resembles the future of the Lebanese and restores the concept of the state, one which must possess the exclusive right to carry arms and to defend Lebanon; and to restore the concept of fighting corruption, not through slogans, but through action in addition to the concept of partnership and balance, for that reason, we must stand beside the presidency.

And he stressed that we should never compromise on any of these constants, for President René Moawad was martyred for refusing to compromise, confirming that there should be no compromise on Zgharta Zawiya and its priority. And he considered that Zgharta Zawiya is not just a district to raise the electoral quotient, but a history, a struggle and a martyrdom that should return to the core of the Lebanese sovereign equation and to the core of the state equation.

And Moawad pointed out that the time has come for Zgharta Zawiya to reclaim its rights after it had fulfilled all its duties, declaring that he is running for election in order to put an end to the policies of subcontracting and compromising that the sovereign public in the region has been paying for, and the breaking the monopoly and restoring balance, freedom and pluralism to Zgharta Zawiya; and carrying on the partnership between Zgharta and Zawiya in the face of discrimination and domination attempts which will only weaken everyone.

And he explained that he aims to reinforce the development path so that it becomes a right and not a favor and a subordination tool, emphasizing that it is Zgharta’s right to develop its tourism, industry and agriculture, and the right of its people to live in their land with their head held high and the existence of developed infrastructure.

And he addressed the expatriates, stressing that they know that “when we arrive, your rights will arrive and development will arrive with us” and he called upon them “to build Zgharta Zawiya together so that the land of our ancestors and the dream of our children remain” And he asked them not to disperse their votes and to pick him as the preferential vote on polling day.
