President of the Independence Movement MP Michel Moawad congratulated the Lebanese team on defeating Jordan as part of the final rounds for teams to qualify for the World Basketball Championship 2019 and tweeted: “Congratulations Lebanon! Thank you to the champion team for this important victory, we are all proud of you and hoping for upcoming celebrations for the World Cup qualifiers, supporting the team is an essential mission in the next stage.”

And in an earlier tweet, Moawad had asked for the support of the Lebanese team, stating: “Today we are all one heart, we must cheer one team, the team of the cedars and the Lebanese basketball champions, best of luck to our Lebanese team in its defining match in its journey to qualify for the World Cup.”
