In a statement, MP Michel Moawad, President of the “Independence Movement” declared:
Lebanese people have proved their adherence to their homeland, their pride of their identity and flag. They expressed loudly their opinions and they asked for their right to live in dignity in a country convenient with their ambitions& capacities; a country managed by transparent institutions that apply the laws and the judicial procedures to sue the corruptors. Moreover, Lebanese people has decided to redefine “citizenship” to build a modern community and a developed government, the matter that contributed in breaking the system that was leading the country to failure for decades on one hand and the typical managing image that was preventing reforms on the other hand.
MP Moawad added “There is a collective responsibility not only to listen to what is happening, but also to interact with it in order to implement the required reform and put Lebanon on the path of growth, hope and modernity to avoid the country’s collapse.”
“From the beginning, I ensured that the solution is in nominating a reduced technocrat government to create a positive shock and therefore save Lebanon from this difficult crisis and prevent the failure.” The MP stressed.
Therefore,
“First, I call for a new government as soon as possible, because delays are causing huge losses on the financial &economic levels, as well as on the international level. Moreover, the latest downgrading by Moody’s agency is an obvious alarm for us to acknowledge that no further delay is allowed, especially amidst this bad economic situation”. He added “the future of Lebanon is in danger, and everyone should present sacrifices for the best of our country.”
“Second, I call again for a technocrat government because we cannot blame only one party for being responsible of this crisis. All parties should assume the responsibility and people said: “All of them, no exception”. Today, the new government should include figures enjoying the confidence of the Lebanese citizens& the parliament, as well as the financial markets, the international community& the international institutions.” He explained
“Third, based on the above mentioned points, I declare that I will only name a technocrat to head the government, specifically from the entourage of PM Saad Hariri which is rich in competent skills, because I will not accept a government of one color that can isolate Lebanon. In consequence, I will only give confidence to a fully technocrat government.” stressed MP Moawad.
