Head of the Independence Movement hails President Sleiman for playing role in restoring Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence

Head of the Independence Movement Michel Moawad said President Michel Sleiman played a key role in reinforcing the status of the presidency and defending the sovereignty of Lebanon and its state institutions.

“President Michel Sleiman laid the foundations of a strong state in line with the constitution and the Baabda Declaration and worked hard to support the army and confront all attempts to violate Lebanon’s sovereignty on the security, military and political levels,” Moawad said in a statement issued following his visit to Baabda Presidential Palace.

Moawad added that Sleiman made efforts to maintain Lebanon’s best interests and reinforce the country’s constructive ties with Arab countries and the international community.

“These achievements will always be remembered and should represent a starting point for any future president who should follow in President Michel Sleiman’s footsteps,” Moawad said.
