Head of the Independence Movement Michel Moawad visited Tuesday Lebanese Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji to pay condolences for the death of soldiers in Arsal including those who were killed in a bombing that targeted their vehicle and others who were executed by members of terrorist groups Nusra and ISIS.

In a statement released following the meeting, Moawad voiced support for the Lebanese Army and stressed that only legitimate armed forces can protect Lebanon against terrorist threats.

Moawad added that all political parties should rally behind the army and put their capabilities at its disposal to safeguard Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
